Description The McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University invites applications for an open-rank position for a tenure-line professor of political science with a specialization in United States politics. We are looking for an early- or mid-career scholar. We can make an appointment at the assistant, associate or full professor level.
The McCourt School is a rapidly growing policy school at the heart of Washington DC, which includes a diverse mix of scholars from economics, political science, sociology, public administration and other domains. We seek a scholar who will contribute to, and thrive in, our vibrant inter-disciplinary research community.
We are looking for candidates with a career trajectory for a high level of academic success in political science, including publishing in respected political science outlets. We will consider outstanding candidates with any area of research focus in American politics. However, the school has long-term plans to expand in the areas of 'elections and democracy,' 'environment and sustainability,' and 'social policy and inequality,' so applications from scholars working in any of these areas will receive particular attention.
We offer an undergraduate program and a variety of graduate programs. We seek a scholar who can teach an introductory course in the U.S. political process and additional courses related to their research expertise. Candidates for a position at the assistant professor rank must have completed or expect to complete their Ph.D. in by August 1, 2025.

The projected salary for this position is $93,591 -103,990 for the Assistant Professor rank, $124,296 - 144,813 for the Associate Professor rank, and $174,337 - 205,500 for the Full Professor rank, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
