College/Department Information Laboratory Information The laboratory's research focuses on clinical and laboratory research on the mechanisms of visual function and dysfunction. Highly motivated applicants with prior experience in laboratory research and computer programming are encouraged to apply.
Department Information The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (DNRM) is ideally aligned with the national mandate for greater translation of basic research from the lab bench to the patient's bedside. With strong support from AU and the University System of Georgia, DNRM brings together nationally recognized scientists and clinicians unlock the unsolved mysteries of major illnesses such as schizophrenia, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. It is the goal of DNRM to create an exciting, highly interactive environment for cutting-edge research and to make discoveries that will bring great benefits to people. DNRM will also serve as a magnet for philanthropy by individuals and foundations with an interest in finding the causes and cures for numerous neurological and behavior disorders that have adversely impacted their families and communities.
Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Working with human subjects regularly, carrying out psychophysical (behavioral) experiments on study subjects, and assisting the Principal Investigator (Pl) and other lab personnel in various experiments involving neuroimaging and eye-tracking in human subjects.
- General management for labs, including (but not limited to) maintaining the laboratory, including ordering reagents, equipment, software etc for the lab, ensuring compliance with all applicable study protocols, and cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Other related duties as assigned by the PI.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Preferred Qualifications Some previous experience with human subjects is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Shift/Salary/Benefits Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B5
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
