Nuclear Plant Operator (NPO)
Holtec Palisades is currently seeking Nuclear Plant Operators (NPO) to join the Palisades Nuclear Plant team in Covert, MI.

JOB SUMMARY
Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the plant, such that the health and safety of the workers and public are not jeopardized; give safety and quality a clear priority over schedule and cost; execute control room direction through all conditions of start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations.
JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs routine tests, incidental maintenance, electrical switching, and other activities necessary to ensure continuity of power generation.
Operate all plant auxiliary equipment that is not normally operated from the control room.
Perform periodic inspections of all assigned equipment spaces.
Assure compliance with all applicable regulations and procedures.
Be thoroughly familiar with the conditions and limitations of equipment operation, out of specification indications, logs, and surveillances.
Report any abnormal plant or equipment conditions and take appropriate action to mitigate the consequences.
Monitor running equipment and systems, collect data on various plant parameters, and perform valve lineups.
Perform technical reviews of procedures and other documents.
Utilize conservative decision making and human performance tools.
Utilize the station’s corrective action programs to address issues and opportunities for improvement.
Identifies problems, defects, and failures which degrade plant equipment integrity and reliability.
Assists Engineering with test specifications and performance.
Perform technical reviews of procedures and other documents.
Recommend changes in plant procedures, personnel, operation, and equipment status to maximize plant and personnel efficiency.
Participate in pre- and post-job evolutions.
Actively participate in training and personnel development opportunities.
Perform routine servicing of equipment including lubrication, wiping of residual oil and ensure fluid leakage is properly contained and managed.
Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization & the Plant Fire Brigade.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position:
~ High School diploma or GED.
Minimum experience required of the position:
~ Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical field
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:
Successfully pass non-licensed operator class and qualify Nuclear Plant Operator.
Classroom courses in basic algebra and physics.
Aptitude for mechanical and electrical components.
Be able to pass a fire brigade physical including respirator use and qualify as a member of the site fire brigade.
High degree of manual dexterity and mature judgement.
Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position:
~ Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) test required.
