Job Title: Interior Designer
Job Description - Develop technical solutions to design challenges with creativity, design excellence, and a highly disciplined work ethic.
- Integrate QA/QC, practice standards, and DLR Group protocols, while collaborating with Project Managers on the coordination of project teams.
- Assist with maintaining project schedule and coordination of project deliverables.
- Demonstrate a strong ability in conceptual design, program development and applying space planning expertise.
- Possess a holistic design acumen that addresses 3D space; from functionality, alignment with programmatic needs, and how materials, volumes, and the performance of the space all align.
- Design, document, and detail ideas that are constructable.
- Select appropriate application of products, materials, and FF&E that align with DLR Group’s sustainable commitments to the built environment and K-12 best practice.
- Create graphic presentations to clearly communicate design intent and storytelling.
- Attend site walks and/or construction administration meetings regularly and can articulate the value and critical aspects of coordination with our integrated practice.
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to continue to grow, learn, and mentor.
- Have strong client, project management, and time management skills.
- Prepare and develop drawings, models, images, material & mood boards, and other documents relating to the design.
- Work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices.
- Have strong creative design and drawing skills, graphic and oral design presentation skills, capacity for conceptual design thinking, and 3D design/modeling ability.
- Take initiative and demonstrate personal ownership of tasks.
Skills - 5+ years of Interior Design experience
- Experience in K-12, Civic, or Justice projects
- Strong understanding of Schematic Design
- Knowledge of Construction Administration
- Comfortable using Revit
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Overland Park, Kansas.
