Job Description:

As a maintenance developer, you will be responsible for supporting our award-winning websites. You will work closely with our project managers and front-end developers to maintain and improve the performance of existing front-end applications, ensuring code quality and optimal user experience through rigorous QA testing. In addition, you will provide support by fixing bugs or building new features as our clients continue to grow. All of our sites are powered by our in-house CMS called Octane, you will be working exclusively in this environment.

As a member of the team, you will be expected to be self-sufficient, able to manage your own workload and timelines, contribute to discussions on the best UX for interactions, and refine our current processes to push our stack forward. 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and updates to existing codebases to ensure compatibility with modern web standards and browsers
  • Collaborate with the development team to understand the nuances and history of projects for effective maintenance.
  • Prioritize and fix reported bugs, including cross-browser inconsistencies and responsive layout issues.
  • Participate in code reviews to uphold high-quality standards and continuously improve the codebase
  • Document all maintenance activities and establish a transparent maintenance workflow.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience with frontend technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • A basic understanding of Git and version control
  • Familiarity with web standards, browser performance, responsive design, UX accessibility, and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and methodologies.
  • A strong sense of humor and a positive attitude.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience exporting assets from Photoshop files or Figma.
  • Baseline understanding of build tool automation (NPM, Grunt, Webpack).
  • Experience with server side page creation (we use PHP).
  • Familiar with page speed testing and browser testing.
  • Experience with Vue.js or similar frameworks.
  • Demonstrable experience with QA methodologies, testing types, and test automation tools.
