Description
The newly created Cost Accounting position will collect, analyze and report on cost accounting data. This includes preparing standard cost reports, cost comparisons, production costing analysis, tracking variances and prepping the journal entries.
The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated, pro-active individual who possesses a challenge the Status Quo personality. The ability to interact with Sales, Operations, Quality, or as requested is critical to the success of this position. Because this position is a process heavy role, the selected candidate will be required to not only complete the required tasks but stive to reduce inefficiencies and improve the overall process.
Key Accountabilities
Gather and compile cost information and maintain the database related to costing.
Review and identify cost inaccuracies
Prepare necessary departmental and company wide reports.
Review, analyze, and report actual profit margins
Assis in month end and year end closing processes.
Determine and recommend cost effective solutions
Setup method/bill of materials for operations
Understand the system to be able to add new items
Analyze and validate items and methods in the system
Raw material cost review and update standards.
Pull analysis as requested by Operations or other departments
Daily . Monthly reports compiled and distributed
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as accounting software
Understanding of accounting procedures
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent analytical and organizations skills, with close attention to detail
Ability to manage confidential information
