Position Information: Supporting the division of Health, Well-being & Safety (HWS), the Communications Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive program of marketing initiatives and communications support (i.e., lead/guide communication efforts across the HWS division, writing strategic communications pieces, executive communication, internal communication, Op-Eds, presentations, speeches, strategic website design, social media, external presentations and remarks, etc.). The incumbent will work with management to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategies & designs, Additionally, there should be projects related to implementing information campaigns, and writing/editing a variety of comprehensive and difficult material for stylistic consistency, logic, organization, rational development of content, and emphasis. Recommends content and layout for creating visually appealing materials, edits, and coordinates production of a variety of multimedia, or conversion of printed pieces to online formats and archives. Involves conceiving, researching, writing, editing, and / or publishing written materials and strategic communications, including publications (e.g. annual reviews), impact reports, narrative creations and sharing, articles, proposals, presentations, speeches, website copy, and promotional material. Also, provides leadership and support to high-profile events within the division.
The full salary range for this position is $71,100 - $128,700 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Requirements: Educational Requirements - Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Required - Master's Degree
Preferred Experience Requirements
- 4 - 7 years of related experience.
Required Special Conditions
Special - This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate events.
Required Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
- Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
- Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans.
- Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences.
- Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
- Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally. Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and/or health sciences. Additional Information:
