Brown University's Department of Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position in socio-cultural anthropology at the rank of assistant professor. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching expertise center on population studies, broadly construed. This could include (but is not limited to) migration, reproduction, kinship/family dynamics, health/medical, development, or the environment. The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in Brown's interdisciplinary Population Studies and Training Center, which has a programmatic focus on anthropological demography. Applicants should have a strong record of ethnographically grounded research, an innovative theoretical approach, clear plans for future scholarship, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. World area is open. The Anthropology department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
